Game Review
In a tightly contested Premier League encounter at Villa Park, Brentford edged out Aston Villa with a narrow 1-0 victory, courtesy of a decisive goal from Dango Ouattara just before halftime. This result might come as a surprise to some, given Aston Villa's strong home form this season, but Brentford's resilience, especially after being reduced to ten men, was commendable. The match's pivotal moment occurred in the 45th minute when Dango Ouattara found the back of the net, capitalizing on a defensive lapse from Aston Villa. This goal proved to be the difference in a game where both sides struggled to create clear-cut chances. Brentford's task was made more challenging when Kevin Schade received a red card in the 42nd minute, forcing them to play the remainder of the match with ten men. Despite this setback, Brentford's defense held firm, repelling numerous Villa attacks. Aston Villa's manager made no changes to the starting lineup from their previous match, despite several players being unavailable due to injuries, including key figures like Emiliano Martinez and John McGinn. The absence of these players was felt, as Villa lacked the cutting edge needed to break down a resolute Brentford defense. Brentford, on the other hand, also fielded an unchanged lineup, with several players missing due to injuries and international duty, including Antoni Milambo and Dango Ouattara himself, who was unavailable for this match. The away side's ability to adapt and secure a win despite these absences speaks volumes about their depth and tactical flexibility. Post-match reactions highlighted Brentford's disciplined performance, with their head coach praising the team's defensive organization and resilience. Aston Villa, meanwhile, will need to regroup quickly as they aim to maintain their position in the upper half of the table. This victory propels Brentford further up the league standings, providing them with a much-needed boost in confidence. For Aston Villa, this defeat serves as a reminder of the challenges they face in maintaining consistency, especially when key players are sidelined.

What is GAP?
What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?
Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.
What is GAP?
GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
